The manager: leader, expert, coach or friend?
Management styles reflect changes in society. The manager’s role in our post-industrial, knowledge-driven society is very different to what it was in a purely industrial society. Even if the image of the manager, with his/her power and expertise, is still with us, we now expect a manager to be not only a leader and expert, but also a coach and powerhouse for his/her team.
